Before you jump to Seafood & Tofu Shumai Steamed Dumplings recipe, you may want to read this short interesting healthy tips about Choosing Fast Food That’s Fine For You.

Almost each and every “get healthy” and “weight loss” document you read will tell you to skip the drive through and make all of your meals yourself. There’s some value to that. Once in a while, though, you definitely do not need to make a whole meal for your family or even just for yourself. Sometimes you just want to reach the drive through along the way home and call it a day. There is zero reason that you simply shouldn’t be able to make it happen once in a while and be free of the guilt usually associated with “diet slips”. You are able to do this because most of the popular joints are now promoting “healthy” menu selections to keep their businesses up. Here is the way to find healthy food at the drive through.

Go with the side dishes. It wasn’t that long ago that all you could get in a fast food cafe was French Fries. Now most of the fast food menus have been widened quite a bit. There are plenty of salads out there today. You may also choose Chili. You can also get a baked potato. Fruit is normally offered. There are a lot of options that don’t require eating anything deep fried. When you order your supper through a drive through window, select side dishes instead of just grabbing something premade. When you choose to do this you are able to keep your fat content and also calorie counts low.

Logic says that one of the best ways to stay balanced is to sidestep the drive through and never eat fast food. Most of the time this is a good concept but if you make good choices, there is not any reason you can’t visit your drive through once in a while. Sometimes what you need is to let someone else produce your dinner. If you choose healthy things, the remorse usually associated with hitting the drive through shouldn’t be so bad.

Instructions to make Seafood & Tofu Shumai Steamed Dumplings:
  1. (In advance) Wrap tofu with kitchen paper towels and leave it for a while to remove moisture as much as you can. Hanpen fish cakes at room temperature if they were frozen.
  2. If you're close to Jungle Jim's in Cincinnati, OH, you'll find Tofu in the Japanese refrigerated section and Hanpen fish cake in the Japanese freezer section.

  10. Mince water chesnut.
  11. Peel and mince onion.
  12. Mince boiled squid.
  13. Put those in the sieve for a while to remove water or use a kitchen towel.
  14. Put the minced water chestnut, onion, and boiled squid into the hanpen fish cake & tofu mixture and mix well.
  15. To make a richer taste, keep the mixture in the refrigerator for few hours to let the seasoning soak into the mixture. *If you want to cook right away, make sure the soup powder is melted in the mixture.
  16. Take some mixture with a spoon and make a small ball, just like a ping pong ball.

  18. Roll the dumpling ball on it to put slices all over it.

  20. Pour some water in the steamer, set the base plate, put a cooking sheet on it, and then place the dumplings.
  21. Cover the top with a wrap and then place the steamer's lid to enclose the steam inside the container.
  22. Heat at 600W for 8 mins. and done!
  23. Shumai itself is well seasoned and tasty. It also goes good with mayonnaise or soy sauce & vinegar mixture to dip.
