Almost every single “get healthy” and “weight loss” posting you study will tell you to skip the drive through and make all of your meals yourself. This is actually excellent guidance. Sometimes, though, the last thing you need is to have to make an evening meal from scratch. Sometimes you just want to reach the drive through along the way home and call it a day. Why shouldn’t you be capable of do this every so often and not have a bunch of guilt about slipping up on your diet? You are capable of doing this because lots of the popular joints are now marketing “healthy” menu alternatives to keep their businesses up. Here is how you can eat healthy and balanced when you reach the drive through.

Choose a drive through for a restaurant that’s known for catering to people with healthy palates. Arby’s for example, isn’t going to provide burgers. Alternatively you can choose from roast beef sandwiches, salads, wraps and other healthier items. Wendy’s, although no stranger to the hamburger, additionally includes plenty of additional meal choices: large salads, large baked potatoes and other tasty items fill its menu. Not every little thing is McDonalds with its deep fried chicken parts and other terribly unfit items.

Logic claims that one the easiest way to stay balanced is to sidestep the drive through and never eat fast food. While this is usually a good suggestion all you need to do is make a couple of good decisions and visiting the drive through isn’t anything to worry about–when you do it in moderation. Sometimes what you need is to let someone else make your dinner. If you decide on healthy items, the remorse usually associated with hitting the drive through shouldn’t be so bad.

  3. You need 1 yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
  4. Use 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  5. Use 1 medium onion, chopped
  6. You need 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  7. Get 3 medium tomatoes, chopped
  8. You need 1 handful leaves of spinach, chopped
  9. You need 2 or 3 jalapeños, each de-seeded and sliced into two halves
  10. You need 6 eggs
  11. Get 1 tsp paprika
  12. Prepare 1 pinch dried basil
  13. Get 1 pinch oregano
  14. Prepare 1/2 cup ricotta
  15. Prepare 1 grated parmesan cheese
  16. Get 1 dash of pepper
  17. Provide 1 salt to taste
Steps to make Portuguese Baked Eggs:
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Heat some oil in a pan and add the sliced bell peppers and onions to it. Sauté till they turn golden brown.
  3. Next add tomatoes, garlic, spinach and jalapeños to the pan and sauté till all the vegetables have reduced. (I was running short on jalapeños so I just used chilli instead)
  4. After the vegetables have reduced, add basil, oregano and paprika to them. You may season the vegetables with pepper too. Add salt to taste.
  5. Separate the jalapeños from the vegetable-mix.
  6. I used a pie plate here but a skillet works too. Spray Pam over the pie plate/skillet.
  7. Transfer the vegetable-mix to the plate and form 6 tiny wells with the help of a scoop or a spoon. In each well add a dollop of ricotta and an egg.
  8. Decorate as you would like to. I placed a few slices of tomato.
  9. Sprinkle salt and pepper over each egg-well and cover the entire plate with a generous layer of grated Parmesan.
  10. Bake for 20-22 minutes for a little runny yolks and about 40 minutes for well-done eggs and a golden-crisp layer of Parmesan cheese, just the way I like it! Serve hot with some bread, toasted or not as you would like.
