Before you jump to Vegetable Broth, with added Beef recipe, you may want to read this short interesting healthy tips about Deciding on Wholesome Fast Food.

Almost every single article about reducing your weight and getting healthy tells readers to avoid drive through windows like the plague and to do all of their own cooking. This is really very true. Occasionally, though, the last thing you choose is to have to cook an evening meal from scratch. Sometimes all you want is to go to the drive through and get home as quickly as possible. There is no reason you shouldn’t be able to do this once in a while and be free of the guilt usually associated with “diet slips”. You can do this because many of the popular joints are now advertising “healthy” menu selections to keep their businesses up. Here’s how it’s possible to eat healthfully when you’re at a fast food restaurant.

Aim toward the side dishes. It was not that long ago that all you could get at a fast food restaurant was French Fries. Now virtually all of the famous fast food places have broadened their menus. There are lots of salads around today. You could get chili. You can get baked potatoes. You can get fruit. There are a lot of alternatives that don’t involve eating anything deep fried. When choosing your meal from the drive through, pick out a variety of side items instead of choosing a pre-made “meal deal”. You’ll keep your calorie and fatty food count lower and stay away from dedication.

Common logic tells us that one positive way to get healthy and lose weight is to drop the drive through and to remove fast food restaurants from your thoughts. While this is usually recommended all you need to do is make a couple of good choices and going to the drive through isn’t anything to worry about–when you do it in moderation. Sometimes the thing you need is to let another person produce your dinner. There isn’t any reason to feel terrible about visiting the drive through when you make healthful decisions!

Steps to make Vegetable Broth, with added Beef:
  1. Rinse the cup of Broth mix under running water In a sieve then put into a container. Add enough boiling water to the brim. Soak for at least 1-2 hours.
  2. Add washed and sliced Potatoes to a large pot or saucepan.
  3. Add peeled and sliced Carrots, and chunky sliced Onions to the pot.
  4. Trim brown/ dried up portion, from Broccoli stalk. Dice and add. Trim Sprouts, quarter slice and add.
  5. Mix up 750 mls(1 1/2 pints) of vegetable stock using boiling water, and add to pot. Bring the mix to the boil, then turn down to a simmer.

  8. If, like mine, the Broth is a bit too watery, I added a cup full of Porridge Oats to thicken the Broth. The oats take up the flavour of the juices, and the kids won’t know about the “ secret ingredient” if you don’t tell them!!
  9. Simmer until the Broth becomes thicker, about 5-10 minutes. Check all your vegetables and pulses are cooked by a “ chef-taste”, add salt if required.
