Almost each and every “get healthy” and “weight loss” article you go through will tell you to skip the drive through and make all of your meals yourself. This is actually very good advice. Occasionally, though, the last thing you want is to have to prepare a meal from scratch. Sometimes you just want to go to the drive through along the way home and call it a day. There is no reason that you shouldn’t be able to make it happen once in a while and be free of the guilt usually associated with “diet slips”. This can be done because lots of the popular fast food destinations are attempting to make their menus healthy now. Here’s how it is possible to eat healthfully while you are at a fast food restaurant.

Choose your drive through based on if it has more healthy options available. For example, Arby’s won’t offer hamburgers. Alternatively you can select from roast beef sandwiches, salads, wraps and various healthier items. Wendy’s, while no stranger to the hamburger, also includes plenty of additional meal choices: large salads, large baked potatoes and other tasty items fill its menu. Not everything is McDonalds using its deep fried chicken parts and other terribly unhealthy items.

Fundamental sense states that the simplest way to lose weight and get healthy is to ban fast food from your diet entirely. While this is usually a good idea all you need to do is make a few good selections and going to the drive through isn’t anything to worry about–when you do it in moderation. Often what you need most is just to have somebody else do the cooking. If you ultimately choose healthy products, the shame usually associated with hitting the drive through shouldn’t be so bad.
