Before you jump to De's Easy Drunken Beans recipe, you may want to read this short interesting healthy tips about Choosing Fast Food That’s Fine For You.

Almost every single article about reducing your weight and getting healthy informs readers to avoid drive through windows like the plague and that they need to perform all of their own cooking. There’s some benefit to this. Sometimes, though, the last thing you choose is to have to cook an evening meal from scratch. Once in a while you only want to visit the drive through while you’re on your way home and end the day. There is zero reason that you shouldn’t be able to do this once in a while and be free of the guilt usually associated with “diet slips”. You are capable of doing this because many of the popular joints are now promoting “healthy” menu selections to keep their businesses up. Here’s how you’ll be able to eat healthfully while you are at a fast food spot.

Pick water, juice or milk as a drink. When you consume a huge soft drink you are putting a lot of empty calories to your day. Usually an individual portion of soda pop should be eight ounces big. That portion typically includes at least a hundred calories and more than a few tablespoons of sugar. Most fast food soft drink sizes start out at twenty ounces. Typically, though, they are 30 ounces. This is the reason why just buying a soft drink will add cupfulls of sugar and thousands of empty calories to your diet regime. It is much healthier to select milk, juice and also standard water.

Traditional logic tells us that one sure way to get healthy and lose fat is to by pass the drive through and to remove fast food restaurants from your thoughts. While, for the most part, this is a good strategy, if you make intelligent choices, there is no reason to feel guilty for visiting a drive through one or two times a month. Sometimes what you need is to let someone else create your dinner. When you want wholesome menu items, you do not have to feel bad about visiting the drive through.

  2. Get 1 can Mexican beer (or whatever is on hand)
  3. You need 1 Ham Hock

  5. Use 1 Onion roughly chopped
  6. Take 2 Jalapeños, seeded and chopped
  7. Use 1 can Chipotle seasoned stewed tomatoes
  8. Prepare 8 oz diced Green Chilis
  9. Prepare 2 tbsp Minced Garlic
  10. Prepare Pinto beans seasoning, I use a couple generous shakes
  11. Prepare 5 cup water, covering beans
  12. Use 1 Chicken bouillon cube, low sodium
  13. You need 1 tbsp garlic powder - optional
  14. Prepare sea salt
  15. Use black pepper
Instructions to make De's Easy Drunken Beans:
  1. Spray your crockpot with cooking spray generously. Rinse and pick through the beans well.
  2. Cut onion rougly. Rinse, deseed, I leave half of the seeds in, and cut Jalapeños, mince garlic, rougly chop bacon.
  3. Pour ALL ingredients into crockpot, add enough water to cover beans (we like a lot of the juice so I make sure the beans have an extra 1-2, 3-5 inches of water). Now turn on high 4-5 hrs or on low 6-8 hrs OR until beans are tender, still slightly firm, but not mushy. I've learned that every crock pot is a little different in cooking times.
  4. Ok, I admit it, I taste the juice every so….well…frequently, to make sure the spices are mixing well and that I've added enough. The recipe is a basic go to and i usually end up adding more pinto bean seasoning and garlic powder.
  5. Remove the ham hock when it starts separating from the bone. You can add salt and pepper to taste right before serving, the boullion cube and ham hock can add a salty taste. If desired, Serve with toppings of your choice. (I serve with sweet homemade corn bread.) Don't forget to let me know what ya think!
