Almost every “get healthy” and “weight loss” posting you read will tell you to skip the drive through and make all of your meals yourself. This is certainly excellent advice. From time to time, though, you totally do not need to make a full meal for your family or even just for yourself. Sometimes you just want to hit the drive through on the way home and call it a day. Why shouldn’t you be able to do this every now and then and not have a bunch of guilt about slipping up on your diet program? This may be possible because plenty of the popular fast food spots are trying to make their menus healthier now. Here’s how it is possible to eat healthfully when you’re at a fast food place.
Milk, juice and also water will be the best choices for beverages. Choosing a big softdrink as your beverage contributes hundreds of unhealthy calories to your meal. Usually just one portion of soft drinks should be eight ounces big. Those eight ounces tend to be at least 100 calories and close to ten tablespoons of sugar. Most fast food soft drink sizes begin at twenty ounces. Thirty ounces, however, is much more common. This ensures that just purchasing a soft drink will add cupfulls of sugar and thousands of empty calories to your diet regime. Water, fruit juice as well as milk, conversely, are much better choices.
Basic reason states that the best way to lose fat and get healthy is to ban fast food from your diet altogether. While this is usually a good idea all you need to do is make a couple of good choices and traveling to the drive through isn’t anything to worry about–when you do it in moderation. Sometimes the best thing is to let another person produce your dinner. If you ultimately choose healthy things, the guilt usually associated with hitting the drive through shouldn’t be so bad.

Instructions to make Hamburger Gravy:
- Peel and chop potatoes into small equal sized pieces. Add to salted water and boil (covered) until a white rim appears around the edge of the pot and potatoes are soft. (About 30 minutes).
- While potatoes are boiling… brown beef and then drain fat.
- Add spices and stir (salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder).
- Add chopped onion and garlic and cook until soft. (3 minutes or so)
- Mix gravy packet with 1 cup of cold water and add into beef.
- Simmer (uncovered) until gravy thickens.
- Add peas (undrained) and continue to simmer (uncovered) on low for 5-10 minutes allowing the gravy to thicken and the dish to get hot.
- While that simmers… drain potatoes. Quickly add butter, sour cream and milk. Beat on low for a few seconds just to mix. Add additional milk or sour cream (if needed) and beat on high until mixed. Do not over beat! I continue to add small amounts of butter, sour cream or milk until the potatoes are to my liking. I add in salt and pepper at the end and give it one more quick mix with the mixer.
