Almost every “get healthy” and “weight loss” article you study will tell you to skip the drive through and make all of your meals yourself. There’s some value to this. But sometimes the last thing you would like to do is make a whole supper for yourself and your family. Sometimes almost all you want is to go to the drive through and get home as quickly as possible. There isn’t any reason that you shouldn’t be permitted to do this and not be suffering from remorse about slipping on your diet. You are able to do this because lots of the popular joints are now marketing “healthy” menu selections to keep their businesses up. Here is the way to eat healthy and balanced when you hit the drive through.

Choose water, juice or milk as a beverage. Choosing a big softdrink as your beverage gives hundreds of harmful calories to your meal. A sole helping of soda is normally thought to be eight ounces. Those eight ounces tend to be at least 100 calories and close to ten tablespoons of sugar. Most fast food soft drink sizes start out at twenty ounces. Usually, however, they’re 30 ounces. This ensures that just ordering a soft drink will add cupfulls of sugar and thousands of empty calories to your diet regime. Water, fruit juice and milk, however, are much better choices.

Logic says that one the easiest way to stay balanced is to sidestep the drive through and never eat fast food. While, for the most part, this is a good strategy, if you make sensible choices, there is no reason to feel guilty for visiting a drive through one or two times a month. Sometimes the thing you need is to let other people produce your dinner. When you select wholesome menu items, you do not have to feel bad about visiting the drive through.

Steps to make Roasted chicken with a Puerto Rican twist🍗:
  1. First defrost and rinse the chicken. Remove the giblets from the cavity (You can save it for homemade gravy).
  2. Pat chicken dry with a kitchen towel or paper towel. Slit a hole in the top of both drumsticks and wings. Elevate the skin over the breast. When adding seasoning, you will rub seasoning inside also.
  3. Cut the stick of butter in half. Use one hand to massage the 1/2 of stick of butter onto the chicken while generously seasoning the bird with Adobo on both sides.
  4. Cut the remaining part of the butter in half. Insert into the cavity along with garlic, onions, two teaspoons of Adobo seasoning, black pepper and two teaspoons of Sofrito
  5. Sprinkle Sofrito over the chicken. Not too much is needed. You can smooth the Sofrito over the chicken lightly with the back of the spoon. Do this on both sides.
  6. Bake covered with aluminum foil at 350 for one hour. Carefully turn the chicken onto the otherside. The remaining onions can be added to the sides of the pan in the dripping.
  7. Continue to bake until it's well done. Occasionally basting with the drippings. Remove the aluminum foil and add the remaining butter just on top the chicken. It will melt rapidly but, it will toast the top of the chicken.
  8. Allow the chicken to bake uncovered for about ten minutes. Enough to toast but, not to dry out or evaporate the drippings.
  9. Once it's cooked, let it rest at least a half hour before serving. Enjoy.
