Just about any article you read about bettering your health or weight loss is going to tell you to ignore the drive through and cook all of your meals instead. This is actually good guidance. Occasionally, though, the last thing you choose is to have to prepare an evening meal from scratch. Once in a while you just want to check out the drive through while you are on your way home and finish the day. Why shouldn’t you have the ability to do this every so often and not have a bunch of guilt about slipping up on your diet? You are capable of doing this because most of the popular joints are now marketing “healthy” menu options to keep their businesses up. Here is how you can eat healthfully when you visit the drive through.
Aim toward the side dishes. It wasn’t that long ago that French Fries were your only side dish option at a restaurant. Now many of the fast food menus have been widened a great deal. There are many salads around now. You could also select Chili. You can get baked potatoes. You can pick fruit. There are a lot of possibilities that you can choose that do not force you to consume foods that have been deep fried. Instead of the pre-determined “meal deals” aim to make a meal consisting of side dishes. This makes it possible for you to keep the calorie count low and reduce your fat intake.
Standard logic tells us that one positive way to get healthy and lose weight is to skip the drive through and to remove fast food restaurants from your thoughts. While this is usually recommended all you need to do is make a few good decisions and visiting the drive through isn’t anything to worry about–when you do it in moderation. At times what you require most is just to have somebody else do the cooking. If you choose healthy items, the remorse usually associated with hitting the drive through shouldn’t be so bad.

- You need 3 clove garlic, minced
- Provide 1/2 tbsp ground cumin
- Provide 1/2 tbsp onion powder
- Provide 1 ground cayenne to taste
- Use 1 1/2 lb fingerling potatoes

- Use 4 carrots, sliced
- Prepare 1 salt to taste
- Provide 1 cracked black pepper to taste
- Get 1 extra virgin olive oil
Instructions to make Garlic & Spice Angus Roast Rump:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Toss vegetables in a bowl with olive oil, salt and black pepper. Place in roasting pan and cook for 30mins.
- While the veggies roast, remove skin and fat (not all fat though!) From meat, and cut several long slices lengthwise. Mix spices and salt. Put garlic in each slice, reserving some for rubbing on the outside of the roast. Rub spice mixture and remaining garlic all over the roast. Place in oven and cook approx 1hr or until internal temp is 135°F. Remove from oven and let stand, covered in foil for 20 mins. The meat will continue to cook as it stands. Meanwhile, whip up a quick side dish or two. (I like sauteed mushrooms and Yorshire Pudding with my roasts.) You can also make a gravy or demiglaze with the pan drippings by adding a little water or wine, stirring and scraping well to get all the good burnt bits. Heat over medium flame until reduced by 1/2. Slice meat, serve and enjoy.
