Almost every single article about losing weight and getting healthy explains readers to avoid drive through windows like the plague and that they need to carry out all of their own cooking. This is literally very true. From time to time, though, you totally do not need to make a whole meal for your family or even just for yourself. Once in a while you need to check out the drive through while you are on your way home and finish the day. There is no reason that you shouldn’t be able to do that once in a while and be free of the guilt usually associated with “diet slips”. This is because most well-known fast food restaurants out there are trying to “healthy up” their selections. Here’s how you’ll be able to eat healthfully when you’re at a fast food restaurant.

Choose water, juice or maybe milk as a drink. Choosing a large soda as your beverage adds hundreds of unhealthy calories to your meal. One helping of soda pop is eight oz.. That portion normally is made up of at least a hundred calories and more than a few tablespoons of sugar. Most fast food soft drinks are a minimum of twenty ounces big. It is frequently a minimum of 30 ounces. This means that just purchasing a soft drink will add cupfulls of sugar and thousands of empty calories to your diet program. It is much healthier to decide on milk, juice or standard water.

Fundamental reason states that the best way to lose weight and get healthy is to ban fast food from your diet altogether. While, for the most part, this is a good strategy, if you make sensible choices, there is no reason to feel guilty for visiting a drive through one or two times a month. Every now and then, allowing someone else cook dinner is just the thing you need. If you ultimately choose healthy products, the guilt usually associated with hitting the drive through shouldn’t be so bad.

Instructions to make Slow Cooker Lasagna:
  1. Grease your slow cooker well and set aside. In a large skillet heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the onions and the beef. Cook and break up the beef until it is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat, if needed.
  2. Stir in the garlic and let it cook until fragrant, just a minute or so. Then stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, sugar and seasonings. Let this simmer for 5-10 minutes just to let the flavors meld together. Then remove it from the heat and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the ricotta, egg, seasonings, mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese. Set that aside.
  4. In the bottom of the slow cooker, spread about 1 cup of sauce…more if needed to completely coat the bottom. Place 2-3 of the lasagna noodles over the meat sauce, breaking them up to fit as best you can.
  5. Place about a third of the ricotta mixture over the noodles and spread it all over.
  6. Repeat this process. I get 3 layers altogether. After the last layer of ricotta mixture, spread over the last of the meat sauce. Top with the 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and the 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese. At this point you could always place the lid on and store it in the fridge until ready to cook.
  7. Cook on low for 4-6 hours, or until the noodles are tender. Then scoop it out the best you can and serve immediately.
